This week, we’re sharing two segments.

Harsha Walia

[ 00:16:09 ]

You’ll hear an interview with Harsha Walia to speak about topics related the interrelated topics of borders, immigration, labor, imperialism, war and neoliberal capitalism. Harsha is the author of (among other titles) Undoing Border Imperialism (AK Press, 2013) and Border and Rule: Global Migration, Capitalism, and the Rise of Racist Nationalism (Haymarket Books, 2021), and this May the article “How To Not Abolish ICE: What have we learned from the past two decades of struggle?” available via Boston Review and appearing in the recent compilation “Forever Wars” from Haymarket at the end of June of 2026.

Harsha organizes with Weaving Our Worlds, a grassroots, anti-authoritarian and internationalist collective and suggests listeners check out Detention Watch Network on ways to get involved in the USA in solidarity with their immigrant neighbors.

There are a few texts by Harsha on TheAnarchistLibrary.org

We definitely recommend Border and Rule for a dense book connecting incarceration, war, technology, finance, ecological displacement and other topics. For interviews with people entrapped by or offering solidarity with people on the move over the last 15 years and from sites as diverse as the Australasia, Abya Yala Europe Africa and West Asia, check the link to the ‘immigration’ category on our website.

Third International Gathering of Anarchist and Anti-Authoritarian Practices Against Fascism

But first up, a brief interview we conducted with organizers of a the upcoming “Third International Gathering of Anarchist and Anti-Authoritarian Practices Against Fascism” taking place in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico from December 18 to 20, 2026. Here’s the announcement from Athens IndyMedia (scroll down for English):

Third International Gathering of Anarchist and Anti-Authoritarian Practices Against Fascism “No government fights against fascism in order to destroy it. When the bourgeoisie see power slipping from their hands, they raise fascism to maintain their privileges. (…) Fascism is not to be debated; it is to be destroyed.” Buenaventura Durruti

With the intention of continuing to open spaces of tension, the International Gathering of Anarchist and Anti-Authoritarian Practices returns to the border territory occupied by the Mexican state, this time in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, from December 18 to 20, 2026.

Due to the rise of the far right and the electoral trap that fascism has set across Abya Yala, its now urgent to create gathering spaces where the anarchist movement, its collectives and individuals, as well as like-minded antiauthoritarian collectives and organizations, can share strategies and tactics so that we are prepared to continue the struggle against fascism in our regions.

Oppression systems (capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism, among others) have been mutating and today show a deepening appropriation of life, of its creative and cooperative potential, while continuing to maintain the exploitation of labor, colonial violence, and the devaluation of the sphere of reproduction.

From this perspective, we believe there is a need for a space to share and strengthen the struggle against fascism that is already underway across different territories. A space that allows us to reflect on how systems of oppression are articulated in the present historical moment, both at the macropolitical and micropolitical levels. Above all, we seek to make self-critique regarding the internalization of these structures within our subjectivities, the spark that ignites anti-authoritarian synergies with emancipatory aims.

On this occasion, the gathering will be divided into tension circles, where discussion will focus both on analytical themes addressing the different faces of contemporary fascism and on resistance practices that are already taking place, as well as those that may emerge. This will take place at the level of global macropolitical domination, but also in the everyday realities of our spaces and territories and in the construction of our subjectivities.

At the macropolitical level, participants are encouraged to share and bring into tension the contributions and practices confronting contemporary fascist domination, such as anti-prison, anti-imperialist, anti-nationalist, and anti-border struggles; struggles for self-determination and autonomy; anti-racist and feminist struggles; struggles against work; among others. They are also encouraged to debate and analyze the contemporary fascist turn and its manifestations, such as nationalism, colonialism, authoritarianism, mass incarceration, anti-feminism, extractivism, LGBTIQ+phobia, necropolitics, and the crisis of disappearances, among others.

Also, at the micropolitical level, we believe it is necessary to problematize practices that are shaped by an internalized political desire that reproduces fascism and manifests itself in authoritarian/fascist dynamics within families and social groups, institutionalized by the state, such as punitivism, the militarization of everyday life, the assertion of supremacy over non-hegemonic lives, the desire for competition, internalized racism, among others.

Participation in this gathering is encouraged through proposals in a variety of formats, such as talks, workshops, graphic interventions, diverse forms of countercultural expression, screenings, documentaries, among others.

To participate in the gathering and/or submit proposals for interventions, talks, screenings, and/or workshops, write to encuentroanarquico ( a t )riseup.net and let us know if you need solidarity accommodation so that we can coordinate it in advance.

The call for participation will remain open from September 1 to November 19, 2026.
